Recently released Imps striker, Martin Gritton, has signed for Macclesfield Town just over a week after finding out his contract at Sincil Bank would not be renewed. Gritton has spent the last 3 years on the bench of Grimsby and Lincoln but might finally get a regular run in the first team at Macclesfield Town.

Gritton joined the Imps in January 2006 and scored on his debut in the 3-2 win at Stockport. He lost his first team place pretty quickly though and found himself struggling to get in the team. The 2006/7 season was a new start for everyone and he scored his second goal of the season, this time it was the winner at his old club, Torquay United in the 95th minute.

He scored against Accrington Stanley in September but that proved to be his final goal for the Imps. He went on loan to Mansfield before returning here for the playoffs andw as unlucky not to score at least once in the second leg. Having then being told he would not get a new contract at Sincil Bank, he quickly set out to get a new club and Macclesfield Town have bitten.

The Silkmen are hoping for just their 2nd season not fighting against relegation in the last 9 years and Gritton could be the different between them playing in either League 2 or the Blue Square Premier Divison in the 2008/9 season.
