Keith Alexander takes over at Macclesfield

Keith Alexander has taken over as the new manager of Macclesfield Town. He will know the Silkmen quite well after he watched them play City twice in recent weeks. It rounded off a busy day at Moss Rose as it had just been a few hours since Ian Brightwell and Asa Hartford had left the club before Keith took over.

The ultimate irony about this whole situation is that Keith takes over from a manager who was sacked following the Silkmens' loss to the last team Keith was in charge of, Peterboroug United. Keith left the Posh at the beginning of 2007 and most recently was Director of Football at Bury.

Keith had a respectable record against Macclesfield in his second spell at City manager. He won the first three meetings, winning 3-0, 1-0 and then 3-2. City's next win came after a 0-0 draw and 2-1 defeat, this time a 2-0 win at Sincil Bank. A few weeks later and Macc were back and the Imps beat them 2-1 on aggregate. Two games and two draws between the side later, Keith left Lincoln.

Keith faces an uphill battle as they are only a small handful of points above the drop zone with the teams below them having several games in hand.
