During the last week, Aldershot's lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier Division has been cut to 10 points as they were losing 3-1 to Ebbsfleet in the FA Trophy. Cambridge United are now in second place. In League One the bottom 3 all slipped closer to League 2 with defeats and Gillingham slipped back into the drop zone following a heavy defeat in the north east.

With just 10 games to go, Port Vale are now 15 points from safety in League One and only a pedantic mathematician would say they aren't already down. They lost 2-1 at Doncaster Rovers to extend their losing run to 5 games. Their last win came over 2 months ago but that's their last win since December 8th. Many are tipping them for another relegation battle in League 2 next season.

Luton and Bournemouth won promotion from what as then known as Division 3 back in 2002 and 2003 respectively, but both moved closer to a return. Both lost 2-0 on away trips, Bournemouth at Leeds and Luton at Southend.

The final relegation place is now occupied by Gillingham, Iffy Onuora's side losing 4-0 at Hartlepool United. They do have games in hand over both Crewe and Cheltenham who are just a point above them.

Meanwhile, those teams who actually want to be in League Two next season took a mixed set of results. During the week Cambridge took 2nd place in the League and retained it despite losing at Farsley. Torquay are now hot on their heels though as they beat York 2-0.

Aldershot still lead the way but the gap is down to 10 points. The BSP season ends on April 26th this season but can Aldershot hang on until then.

The Playoff places in the BSP are taken up by the aforementioned Cambridge and Torquay. Stevenage are down to fourth and now just have a 3 point gap to 6th placed Burton. Exeter take up the final Playoff place with with 62 points.

In League 2, the battle to stay in the League remains much the same due to Mansfield's failure to take advantage of another Macclesfield defeat. The Stags lost 4-0 at home to Rochdale, a win would have taken them out of the drop zone due to Macc losing at Brentford.

Peterborough now have a 7 point gap to 4th place and will fancy their chances of winning the title as they are the form team in the division at the minute. MK Dons have a relatively comfortable 5 point gap over 4th and are finding decent form again. Darlington hold a 1 point advantage over Hereford.

The other 3 Playoff places only have 5 teams likely to claim them. Wycombe and Stockport will certainly fancy their chances given their recent form. Rotherham have been stuttering recently and that has allowed Chesterfield to catch them up again, although a 3 game winning run for the Spirites has certainly helped. Rochdale are 5 points behind 7th but have 3 games in hand.
