Lincoln City will travel to Kenilworth Road and Vale Park next season as both Luton Town and Port Vale were relegated on Saturday afternoon. The irony of who relegated Port Vale won't be lost on them as Vale relegated that team a few years back. Aldershot will be promoted on Tuesday if they secure at least a point at Exeter City.

In 2002/3 there was a match at Vale Park involving Port Vale and Huddersfield Town. Huddersfield had to win to stay up but a 5-1 victory for Port Vale saw the Terriers relegated to this division. Skip forward 6 seasons and Port Vale needed to beat Huddersfield to avoid the drop for yet another week. A 0-0 draw between the two sides means that Port Vale were relegated and the Imps will travel to Vale Park again next season.

They are joined by Luton Town. The Hatters had to win to stand any chance of staying up for now but a defeat meant they were sentenced the drop. However, it turns out that other results meant that Luton would have gone down on Saturday whether they had won or not.

Bournemouth continued an excellent run with a win over Bristol Rovers. That leaves them 6 points from safety with 3 games to play. However, they will be relegated if they lose at Walsall next Saturday and Crewe pick up at least a point. However, a draw would guarantee at least one more week in League One due to Crewe playing Cheltenham Town.

Gillingham slipped closer to the drop as Swansea came from behind at Priestfield to win themselves promotion. Due to a vastly inferior goal difference they are effectively four points from safety with 3 to play.

Whilst two teams were joining League 2, two others wasted opportunitys to leave League 2. Peterborough and MK could both have been promoted but neither were as they only picked up a point between them. Peterborough lost to Stockport who are now within striking distances of third place. Hereford currently occupy that and their win at Darlo effectively ended the latters chance of automatic promotion.

Rochdale couldn't continue their winning run at Dagenham but a draw leaves them 5 points clear of 8th whereas Wycombe secured the draw that denied MK promotion.

Wrexham play Shrewsbury on Sunday needing a win to have an outside chance of survival. Mansfield are now four points behind 22nd as they could only draw at Macclesfield and they've now used up their games in hand. However, they face 22nd placed Dagenham and Redbridge on the final day in a game that could decide who goes down.

Yet another win for Aldershot guaranteed them promotion. They now need just a point from their trip to Exeter on Tuesday night to secure the title. Ironically though Aldershot's win over Burton meant that Exeter moved into the Playoff places. Torquay, Cambridge and Stevenage take up the other three places.
