Reaction to the rest in 2007/8

The remaining four players to get a reaction were all loanees and all had varying levels of impact. The four in question including a goalkeeper with butterfingers, a defender who has the turning circle of a train, a young Algerian who's built like a brick outhouse and a Chesterfield youngster who was never given a proper opportunity.

Lee Ridley in 2007/8

Lee Ridley was a defender who John Schofield was heavily keen on signing, yet he only came to the club under Peter Jackson. He immediately slotted into the left back position and he didn't seem to be too bad.

However, a game at Barnet showed that Lee Ridley has the turning circle of a train. Barnet strikers ran around him with ease and he was the main reason we conceded 5 that day.

I'd be highly surprised to see Ridley in a City shirt again. He is simply not good enough to play for us. I can't recall anything positive that he contributed and it seems surprising Jackson put up with him for as long as he did.

Hamza Bencharif in 2007/8

I was highly sceptical when we brought in Hamza on loan. I'm never overly keen on youngsters that I've never heard of. However, I was surprised with Hamza and he was far better than I was expecting.

For someone who's relatively young, he was build like a brick ****house. He certainly made his presence felt, especially on his debut when he gave away a penalty.

I feel that Hamza has a promising future ahead of him and I wouldn't mind seeing him at Sincil Bank again. I doubt it will happen but you never know.

Ben Smith's loan spell didn't start at well, slipping whilst trying to get to a shot at Wycombe. His form didn't improve as time went on and he ended up giving away points in several games.

His mistakes cost us draws at Bradford and Grimsby, those before ducking under a header that denied us a victory over Bury.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't be disappointed if I never saw butterfingers at this football club again.

It's hard to gain an opinion on Smith as he played very few games whilst at the club.

His only contribution was an impressive shot that lead to Jamie Forrester's goal at Rochdale.

I highly doubt we'll see him at Sincil Bank again.

Bit harsh on Ridley IMO. He was slow, but his positional sense and tackling was a million times better than Croft's
