The Imps seem set to sign Scunthorpe centre back, Jamie McCombe after Craig Alladyce (son of Sam) made an enquiry about the defender signing for Lincoln and has even recieved a letter from Scunthorpe's chairman saying the Imps can have him but that hasn't set well with our old friend, Mr Laws Jamie McCombe seems set to become and Imps player after Craig Alladyce has organised a detail for the supposed out of favour Scunthorpe defender. However, Scunthorpe manager, Brian Laws is extremely unhappy about this claiming he is still hopeful McCombe can become a success at Scunthorpe.

"We had an inquiry from Lincoln about taking over Jamie's contract, but we've turned them down," said Laws.

However, Law's wasn't prepared for Alladyce's come back of having a letter from the Scunthorpe chairman saying that he is giving permission for the Imps to talk to McCombe and a possibility of him signing on a free transfer.

"I've got a letter on Scunthorpe United headed paper, signed by their chief executive which states Jamie McCombe is now available on a free transfer, and giving me the right to find a new club for him."

So what will this mean for the Imps vs Scunthorpe game next week? Alladyce seems confident McCombe will be a City player well before then, wouldn't it be sweet irony if he scored the winner against the Scunts?
