OUT OF FORM TEAMS FACE EACH OTHER

As bad as the Imps think their home form is, it's nothing as bad as Scunthorpe's overall form. Scunny have only won 2 games in the last 17 (in 90 minutes) in all competitions. The Imps definatly hold the Iron's number as the Imps have won 5 of the last 7 meetings.

  • The 2nd battle of Lincolnshire in the space of 7 days since Scunthorpe United travel to Sincil Bank as them aim to beat the Imps for the first time in 8 atttempts. In the previous 7 attempts, the Imps have won 5.
  • IMPS TEAM NEWS
  • The Imps are still without Richard Butcher but Paul Mayo is back from a 1 match suspension. The Imps sorely missed both last week in the 1-1 draw with Boston.
  • SCUNNY TEAM NEWS
  • The Scunts are set to welcome back leading scorer, Steve McClean. It is no coincedence that ever since the on-loan striker stopped scoring, the Iron's form went downhill. Scunthorpe have gone from the playoffs positions down to dangerously close to the relegation zone. Despite currently being 15th in the table, they are only 6 points above the relegation zone but with the bottom sides starting to quickly pick up points, they will need to improve results quickly otherwise they could soon find themselves really fighting to avoid relegation after a season where at least a playoff place was expected.
  • THEIR BAD RUN
  • Scunthorpe's bad run started after defeating Cambridge 4-0. Since then, they have only won in 3 games with one being in the LDV and the other 2, both coming in the FA Cup. One against Sheffield Wednesday which needed a replay and penalties. The other was at home to Barnsley. Scunny have only picked up 6 points from a possible 30 in the league since this run began. They have suffered losses against Yeovil (2-1), Donny (1-0), Boston (1-0), Bristol Rovers (1-0) and Oxford (3-2).
  • RECENT MEETINGS
  • The Imps have done incredibly well against Scunthorpe in recent years. The Imps have 5 meetings between the 2 clubs in the last 7. The Imps have won 3-2, 1-0, 5-3, 1-0 and 3-1. The other 2 have been draws, 0-0 and 1-1. Scunthorpe have also only won 6 out of 31 meetings at Sincil Bank and the last of those was in 1991.
  • 5 MOST RECENT RESULTS IN ANTI-CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
  • SCUNNY 1 CITY 3
  • SCUNNY 0 CITY 1 (PLAYOFF S/F 2ND LEG)
  • CITY 5 SCUNNY 3 (PLAYOFF S/F 1ST LEG)
  • SCUNNY 0 CITY 0
  • CITY 1 SCUNNY 0
  • PREDICTIONS
  • After recent home results, I'm not particully confident of the Imps fortunes but we always seem to do well against Scunthorpe not matter what our previous form was. I therefore predict a very narrow 1-0 victory to the Imps, that's if the players perform decently which would be very unusual for a home performance now.
