Boston United boss, Steve Evans has publicly backed the Imps to go up through the playoffs and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in Division 2
Evans is never lost for words and often has very enthusastic abuse at referees but this suprise statement has left Imps fans thinking that he's not that bad after all.
"I honestly think City will go up this time and that will be the end of our derby"
Evans has never managed Boston when they have played City but still knows the importance of a 2nd division team in the region now the Grimsby have been relegated to the 3rd Divison. He believes the Imps can go one step furthur and finally seal a much earnt 2nd Division place.
"They were curelly beaten in the final last season"
"Lincoln have worked extremely hard this season and deserve every chance of going up. They have shown time and time again they can do the business when it is required"
Evans is now stranger to promotion battles himself after the controversial end to the 2001-2 conference season saw Boston pip Dagenham to the champion in the last season where the playoffs only had 1 team promoted. Boston celebrated but that quickly came to a halt as they were deducted 4 points for the 2002-3 season and Evans was banned from managing for 20 months.
