The light of fortune has shone on the Imps after it was announced that around half of the Boston United squad has gone down with a severe case of the flu ahead of the massive derby game on Sunday afternoon.
Training was cancelled for Wednesday and Thursday and unless a lot of the players make a miraculous recovery, training will be called off tomorrow as well. This is good news for the Imps as it means that a lot of Boston's regular first team squad could be out on the eagerly antipated game on boxing day.
Boston United manager, Steve Evans said,
“Having taken medical advice, I have told my players to stay at home until Friday. We have a number of players affected and we want to try and minimise the virus spreading. Given we have a very small squad, if I have any players not available to me, I could have James Rodwell at the back and secretary John Blackwell up front against Lincoln City!”
