Keith is awaiting a decision from the board that will indicate if he can sign Rushden and Diamonds' Drewe Broughton. Broughton has never scored against the Imps but does have a reputation for being a ill-tempered player, being sent off 8 times in 5 years.

Keith has said that he has been targeting the well travelled striker for a long time and just like the majority of strikers that Keith brings in these days, he has a poor strike record with an average of 18 goals to every 100 games, not once scoring more than 10 goals in a season. Keith was quoted as saying that he was looking to bring the striker in a loan before trying to make the deal permanent in January.

Broughton started his career as a trainee with Norwich City, before playing for Wigan, Brentford, Nuneaton, Dagenham and Redbridge, Stevenage, Kidderminster, Southend, Wycome and currently, Rushden and Diamonds.

Broughton was sent off for the Diamonds in their 4-1 defeat by Lincoln last season for stamping on Gareth McAuley, at that point, the game was 1-1 and City scored 3 times in 6 minutes after the sending off, which could show that he has an influence and his height of 6'3 would make him the tallest striker in the Imps' squad by quite some way. However, the deal has several variables involved, including whether Rushden manager, Barry Hunter, would be interested in off-loading his striker and whether the Imps board would be prepared to release funds for Keith to finance the deal.

If Broughton did join the Imps, he would be the 3rd player in the squad to have played for Kidderminster at some point during his career, following Dean Keates and Gary Birch.
