Lincoln City have completed the signing of striker Martin Gritton from Grimsby Town for a nominal fee until 2007. City fans already know what Gritton is capable of as the striker scored a goal against the Imps in the final game of the 2002/3 season that almost cost the Imps that playoff spot.

Gritton is a tall target man striker who scored 6 times from 29 starts for Grimsby Town, however, he is a very experienced striker at this level and he is fully capable of between 15 and 20 goals a season.

The Scot has also played for Plymouth, Torquay, Yeovil and Shelborne in his professional career which has seen a total of 36 goals in 190 career appearances, however, 71 one of those were from the substitutes bench

"It's great to get a move during the season where I haven't been playing as much as I wanted to at Grimsby and just down the road, to get an oppurtunity to play, is just fantastic. It's great to come down and to be competiting for a place because at Grimsby, I had got into a position where I had been regularly sitting on the bench and not getting enough time on the pitch. It'll be good to come down here and compete with the other strikers and it'll hopefully benefit the club from doing that."

If selected, Gritton will make his debut against Stockport on Saturday and possibly even feature against his old club, Torquay United, next week.
