Stockport County manager, Jim Gannon has announced he won't be trying to sign Simon Yeo after meeting the player. Yeo has been strongly linked with a move to his hometown club but after meeting Gannon, a deal won't be struck after Gannon admitted to being "put off" by Yeo.

Yeo has stalled over signing a new contract with the Imps after being offered less money that he was on last season after the Imps' re-signed him from the New Zealand Knights in January and has been actively seeking alternative employment and an article in today's Stockport Express confirms that he tried to sign with Stockport County but Jim Gannon has ruled out signing him after being "put off" Yeo in his first meeting with the player.

In the Stockport Express, the article reads "Gannon has told the Express this week about three initial targets who now look like they’ll be playing elsewhere next season. The County boss met Bury midfielder Dave Flitcroft and Lincoln City striker Simon Yeo, but Flitcroft now looks like he is staying at Gigg Lane, while Gannon was put off Yeo after the first meeting."

This now makes Peterborough United the hot favourites to sign him in Keith Alexander's quest to turn Peterborough into a nostalgic version of Lincoln.
