After Dominic Cork's five-wicket haul helped dismiss Gloucestershire for just 179, Derbyshire had worked their way into a 47-run lead at the close of play on Thursday.

Christopher Bassano remains unbeaten on 63 and with Tim Lungley unbeaten on nine and Cork still to come, Derbyshire had hoped to move into a winning position to enhance their claims of overtaking Division Two leaders Essex and Middlesex.

But with just one day remaining after any hope of play was dashed at the 5pm inspection, the game appears to be heading towards a draw.
