Notts & Derbyshire Border Youth League

Hi-Field Leisure Under 13 section – Dales Division

Belper Meadows 98 for 5 v Matlock 63 for 3

Belper were in trouble after two overs, with both Tom Maleham and Rob Borland being dismissed by Edson, and Pressman. However, Ali Harrop-Griifiths (retired not out 25) and Joey Severn (retired not out 27) took control and steered Belper out of trouble with a partnership of 59.

Ali Harrop-Griffiths made way for Tom Mart who hit a quick-fire 17 before becoming succumbing to Lowe. When Joey Severn reitred Cimion Halliday joined Mart and pushed the score on to 98.

Matlock were determined not to lose quick wickets, however, some accurate bowling by all the Belper bowlers, restricted the scoring rate. When Ali Harrop-Griffiths bowled Edson in the 9th over, Matlock were only 19. Paul Taylor dismissed Yearley in the next over, which allowed Pressland to hit an aggressive 24 not out.

However, Matlock fell further and further behind the asking rate, and when Joey Severn dismissed Lowe for 7 in the 18th over, they had to give up the chase, leaving Belper to claim their seventh victory of the season, and remain top of the League.
