England selectors today named a 16-man squad for the One-Day series with Pakistan, with a 16-year age between the oldest and youngest member's of the squad.

Darren Gough is recalled for the first time in over a year, whilst 20-year old Stuart Broad of Leicestershire is in line for his first taste of the international scene. Gough has been in fine One-Day form for Essex this year, and despite having an injury worry with his shins, England's leading ever One-Day wicket taker is set to add to his collection of 157 One-Day caps. Broad, at the other end of the age spectrum is a right-arm medium-fast bowler, who is pretty decent with the bat.  Broad's bowling average is under 30, and recently had his public profile risen by a fine performance in the Twenty20 Final.  Another player in the squad is 25 year old Michael Yardy.  Yardy is a left-handed batsman,  with a technique reported to be similar to Andrew Strauss's.  Yardy is alo a neat bowler, who has taken 15 First class wickets with his slow left-arm deliveries. Five players have been left-out who were in the squad for the dismal Sri Lanka series.  They are Alex Loudon, Kabir Ali, Geraint Jones and Vikram Solanki.  A further nine players are unavailable due to injury: Michael Vaughan, James Anderson, Ian Blackwell, Tim Bresnan, Glenn Chapple , Andrew Flintoff, Ashley Giles, Simon Jones and Liam Plunkett.
