Well he's the new Yorkshire captain and the head of professional cricket but what else do we know about our new leader? We've done some research and here's our Chris Adams factfile.

Adams will go down in the record books as the first captain to lead Sussex to the County Championship, which he did in 2003.

 

A front-foot bruiser, Adams veers from the ferocious to the fallible. He's one of the most explosive batsmen in the county game and loves to hit the ball in the air.

Earned a call-up for England’s tour of South Africa in 1999-2000, where he featured in five Tests and five one-day internationals. In his only spell in Test cricket, in South Africa in 1999-00, his aggressive instincts got him into trouble, especially when he drove loosely and without moving his feet. He made his debut with Michael Vaughan and the pair came together with England 2-4 (they added 30 before Adams went for 16)

Adams is a combative cricketer and team-mates had to step in when he and Wasim Akram squared up during the interval at the 1993 B&H final.

He spent ten increasingly unhappy years at Derbyshire and joined Sussex as a highly-paid captain in 1998, where he and Michael Bevan spent two summers rescuing the middle order. His hard work paid dividends in 2003 when he led Sussex to their first title and in April 2004 he was named one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year.

Adams is also one of the few batsmen to have scored championship centuries against all 18 counties.

Adam’s has appeared on stage in Brighton in a cricket version of a Morecombe and Wise sketch in aid of the Tsunami Appeal in January 2005.

In April 2005 Adams said he had lost a lot of respect for Shane Warner after the Australian captain of Hampshire allegedly sledged a lot of the younger Sussex players.

Scored over 1,000 championship runs in 2005 as Sussex finished third in the table, and led them to the totesport League Division Two title, scoring nearly 600 runs in the process.

Enjoyed his best season as skipper in 2006, completing a domestic double by winning the championship and the C&G Trophy.

Courted by Yorkshire after their skipper Craig White stood down at the end of the season, Adams turned down a contract extension at Sussex in favour of a shock move to Headingley.

He signed a four-year deal to become captain and head of professional cricket at Yorkshire barely a month after winning the championship.
