Sam Allardyce takes Blackburn Rovers job

Rovers get Allardyce

He was the bookies favourite to be Roy Keane's successor at Sunderland but today Big Sam has been appointed as Manager at Ewood Park. Allardyce, 54, who enjoyed great success in the north west during his time with Bolton, is making his return to management after being sacked after 8 months with Newcastle.

"Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager," said a club statement.

Former Rovers boss Paul Ince was sacked 17 games into the 08/09 season with just three wins under his belt.

Eight successful years as Bolton Wanderers manager, during which he took the white men into the top flight and cemented them as a Premiership side, persuaded the Rovers board that he is the man to rescue Blackburn from the threat of relegation and I for one am very disappointed that he will not be the next Sunderland Manager.

Big Sam will face Stoke City in his first game in charge this Saturday in what is really a must win game for Blackburn Rovers.

The Black Cats on SportNetwork.Net wish Big Sam luck in his new job, well as long as Blackburn don't finish above us.

Disappointed with this, was hoping Big Sam would join us.
