1000 more seats for Riverside Test Match

Durham CCC announced yesterday that 1000 extra seats would be added for the Bangladesh Test match bringing the capacity at the Riverside ground to 8000. The test match starts on Friday 3rd June and the demand for seats has already been high with the club reporting that even after the addition of the extra seats there are less than 1500 seats available for the first days play and less than 750 for the second day. Both days are expected to sell out.

The test match will be the second at the Riverside, after Zimbabwe played there in the Summer of 2003. That test match lasted less than three days when England won by an innings and 69 runs. A similar duration will be expected this time, and to get the most use out of the weekend the start of the test has been moved from the traditional Thursday to Friday. Having said that, the Sunday and Monday following England's victory in 2003 would have been complete washouts as the heavens opened...
