Harris returned figures of four for 70 and Franks four for 46 as only opener Ian Thomas really troubled the Notts attack with a controlled 76. In reply, the home side had reached 133 for two by the close after 45 overs to trail by 80.

Opener Guy Welton was unbeaten on 55 and Usman Afzaal not out on 53 following the earlier loss of skipper Jason Gallian (5) and Paul Johnson (9). Mike Kasprowicz accounted for Gallian leg-before with the last ball of the third over, and paceman Simon Jones had Johnson caught by Adrian Dale at deep backward square-leg.

Earlier in the day, Glamorgan struggled to live with the pace and accuracy of either Harris or Franks. Openers Daniel Cherry was clean bowled by Richard Logan at the end of the 21st over with the score on 91. They were to lose their next five wickets for the addition of just 58.

David Hemp was the first of four successive wickets for Harris, the Glamorgan number three trapped lbw for nine to leave the visitors on 114 for two. Four overs later Harris had found the groove, ripping out first Mike Powell (7) and top-scorer Thomas soon after, both beaten for sheer pace and clean bowled.

The dismissal of Powell left Glamorgan on 124 for three, while Thomas faced 112 balls and carved out 13 fours for a fine 76 without which the visitors would have mustered a lamentable total. That left Glamorgan 131 for four and with Thomas gone, the visitors offered little further resistance.

In the 40th over Harris struck again, Adrian Dale nicking one behind to keeper Chris Read for three with the score on 149, and without any further score Franks saw Matthew Maynard (15) surrender meekly, edging one to Read in similar fashion.

With six wickets down and only 149 on the board, Robert Croft looked to knuckle down and play one of his trademark knocks to rescue the situation. But Croft had made just 15 when he was undone by a yorker from Logan and next over Franks had Darren Thomas caught by Gallian at first slip to leave Glamorgan on 191 for eight.

That was Franks' second wicket and he needed no invitation to mop up the tail, first Kasprowicz (4) feathering one to Nicky Boje at second slip and then last man Simon Jones (2) was bowled playing across the line to leave Glamorgan all out for 213.
