| The site assists good causes via
auctioning signed memorabilia from the likes of Ian Botham, Shane
Warne, David Beckham, Michael Owen etc.
Nick told us:
"We've expanded the causes we've helped and recently raised £2k for ex
England footballer Matthew Le Tissier's chosen charity via an auction
of one of his signed shirts. We also helped World Cup star Niall
Quinn's fundraising efforts via the auction of two signed shirts two
weeks ago which again went really well. We will also be helping the
Andy Cole Children's Foundation over the coming weeks and months, and
working with a number of other good causes.
In addition to this
position I'm also fundraiser for national disabled children's charity
the ACE Centre Advisory Trust (www.ace-centre.org.uk)
one of the charities to have benefited from the site. Others include
the Variety Club Of Great Britain, and the National Institute of
Conductive Education based in Birmingham.
Bid4sport provides
this service for free to good causes, unlike other sites who charge
charities 5-15% commission!! Bid4sport having commercial areas that
subsidise the free service."
Le Tissier Story
Nick went on:
"The response to bid4sport has been fantastic and we now have over
10,000 members which obviously are very targeted towards sport and
memorabilia. We've kindly been supported by the likes of
Freeserve.com,
CIS.co.uk, official club sites and
also football site giant
soccernet.com. Soccernet which is owned by Disney have been
exceptional in their support and we recently ran the following 'World
Cup Draw Of A Lifetime' which had a fantastic response."
Bid4sport has also
received coverage in national and local media, the specialist sport
and fundraising press and coverage on a host of online sporting sites.
The site has also been fortunate
enough to have been supported by the likes of Denis Bergkamp, Kirsty
Gallacher and Darren Gough each of which signed 100 limited edition
prints for the site.
The Gallery
This week
bid4sport has a
cricket theme with signed items from the likes of Ian Botham and the
late great Sir Donald Bradman. Nick said: "As
part of our Cricket theme we have teamed up with new English Cricket
Competitions magazine 'Stumped' in a simple quiz / competition where
the prizes are signed bats from the England and India teams currently
embroiled in the Test series, and which include the prize signature of
Sachin Tendulkar."
