Collingwood Worry Going Into New Season

England were anxiously waiting for a medical report on Paul Collingwood after the Durham all-rounder was taken to hospital with a suspected dislocated shoulder.

Collingwood, one of the emerging stars of England's one-day side, was injured when he dived to the ground to stop the ball in Durham's one-day friendly against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

He stayed on the ground for several minutes in obvious pain and had to be taken off on a stretcher.

Durham coach Martyn Moxon said: "It is a suspected dislocated shoulder but we will not know the full extent until X-rays have been carried out."

Collingwood has appeared in 38 one-day internationals since 2001 and scored a World Cup century against Sri Lanka.

Even if the injury is as serious as feared, he should recover in time to play against Pakistan in the NatWest Challenge in June but it could ruin his hopes of forcing his way into the Test reckoning.
