Durham fast bowler Steve Harmison looks poised to become the 16th seam bowler used by England in nearly four years ago.

Harmison's raw pace is expected to be given the vote ahead of Derbyshire's Dominic Cork aptitude for swing bowling.

England have already allowed Alex Tudor to return to Surrey and continue his recovery from shin splints.

Harmison's selection only came about because Simon Jones was injured during his Test debut at Lord's a fortnight ago and is expected to be sidelined for another fortnight.

Jones' injury is the latest of many this season that have already accounted for Darren Gough, Andrew Caddick and Tudor and is the result, according to Hussain, of too much cricket both at international and domestic level.

"With a tour of Australia coming up it's important we have a crop of fast bowlers that are young and athletic which we seem to be getting, but the injuries also concern me," said Hussain.

"People should look at why these young bowlers are getting injured. It can't be good for them the amount of games they are playing in county cricket.

"I just think some of these young lads are bowling too much. There's obviously a problem because every selection meeting we've had for the last year or so either the people we've brought in are injured or the people who played are injured.

"It's been good for us in some ways because all our bowlers have got a few caps under their belts and we've rotated bowlers well, but, with the amount of international cricket and first class cricket, if you do both like the Tudors and Jones, eventually you're not going to be able to bowl quick with real raw pace over a 10-year period."
