All-rounder Stuart Lampitt has announced his decision to retire at the end of the current season.Lampitt already has another job lined up and will become full-time Cricket Development Officer for the Worcestershire Cricket Board in October. After 17 years of great service to the club,Stuart Lampitt has decided to hang up his boots. During his time at the club,Lampitt has won a total of 7 trophies,including the Championship twice,the B & H Cup and the Natwest Trophy.

Still a member of the one day side this summer,during his career he took 356 one day wickets at an average of 24,including 16 wickets this season.In the first class game,Lampitt has played 236 matches,scoring 5649 runs at an average of 23.83 whilst taking 601 wickets at an average of 28.65.

Lampitt,speaking to the official Worcestershire CCC website,said:
'Worcestershire CCC, under the guidance of Tom Moody, is currently building for future success and at present is in a period of transition. With this in mind I feel the time will be right for me to retire at the end of what I hope will be a successful season.'

Carrying on,Lampitt also said 'I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with the club both presently and over the recent past, the players, staff, members and supporters for their camaraderie, friendship and loyal support which has undoubtedly helped make my career such an enjoyable one.'

I'm sure everyone associated with Worcestershire will miss seeing Stuart Lampitt out there in the middle and wish him all the best in his new job.
