Worcestershire CCC have announced that four new signings have been made ready for next season. However, one of the signings will remain unnamed until the New Year.
The one overseas player that has been named is South African all rounder Andrew Hall.27 year old Hall made his test debut earlier this year, where he scored an accomplished 70 against Australia, but he has also previously played 22 one day internationals for his country.Hall is well known in the South African domestic game where he plays for Eastern Province and was named South African all rounder of the year last season.
The second overseas signing, who is as yet unnamed,is said to be a genuinely fast bowler with international experience in both Test and One Day cricket but WCCC will keep the fans guessing over his identity until the new year.
The final two signings have been added on University contracts.Dave Wigley and Stephen Moore, who attend Loughborough University and Exeter University respectively, will join the squad when academic commitments permit during the early part of the season and become full time once the summer term is over.Wigley is known to be a fast bowler who has previously played first class cricket for Yorkshire whilst Moore is an aggresive batsman who impressed whilst playing for WCCC's second team last season.
Tom Moody today spoke of his new signings:
'I am delighted to have secured the services of two international players who will add real quality to our side and also two young players with real potential for the future.
'Andrew Hall's all round ability will be a huge asset in all forms of cricket next season and our second overseas player, who unfortunately we cannot name at the present time, will add genuine pace, hostility and quality to our attack.
'In Dave Wigley and Stephen Moore we have picked up two highly talented young cricketers who could well feature in our first team line up at some stage this season.'
