City to sign striker Stallard

Lincoln City are set to sign Shrewsbury Town striker, Mark Stallard after Gary Peters revealed we'd offered him a 2 year contract. Speaking after a friendly win over Bradford, Peters revealed that Stallard was due to sign for the Imps tomorrow morning in a surprise transfer.

This move comes as a complete surprise to both sets of fans after the striker scored just 7 goals in 41 appearances for the men from Gay Meadow but Gary Peters revealed that Stallard's time in Shropshire is almost guaranteed to be over.

"He's going to sign for them (Lincoln) tomorrow. I was phoned by Lincoln who asked about Mark's availability, they were prepared to offer him a two year contract and I thought it was in Mark's interest to have a two year contract because it is 40 miles closer to his home than this is."

The 31 year old's most prolific spell came at Notts County where he scored 66 goals in 185 games for the Magpies. That accounts for more than half of his league goals as he has scored 117 in 413 games for Derby, Fulham, Bradford, Preston, Wycombe, Notts County, Barnsley, Chester and now Shrewsbury.

He is expected to complete the transfer tomorrow.
