Birch agrees deal to end bizarre saga

Gary Birch has ended a bizarre contract saga by signing a new 1 year deal just over a day after the club withdrew the offer just 48 hours ago after refusing to give the striker a 2 year contract that he was hoping for due to the fact he still lives in the West Midlands.

Birch, who was just one goal away from being the club's top goalscorer last season, looked set to leave Sincil Bank after months of negotiation of his contract and that seemed to be confirmed on Tuesday evening when the club announced that they had withdrew the offer of a contract to the striker.

However, Birch has now agreed to the 1 year deal he wasn't looking for and after scoring twice against Lincoln United last week and given his good finishing skills, he could be a strong contender to start against Notts County in 2 weeks.
