It's a relief for that losing run to be over and even more that we finally got a clean sheet. To say that the last few weeks have been torrid would be an understatement but hopefully, that will be our only bad run this season, an unrealistic hope but a hope none the less. I find it no coincedence that for the first time since the win at Wycombe, we've played football for the first time and it again coinsided with an Imps win.

Whilst this was a team effort, there was one player who stood head and shoulders (ironic in a way) over everyone else and that was Jamie Forrester. Without trying to sound dis-respectful to the players of the past but Forrester is the most intelligent player I've seen in a City shirt for a long time. His purchase from Bristol Rovers could turn out to be the reason why City might inevitably win promotion. It's hard to put into words how muh of a difference he makes to the squad but I dread to think what'd happen if he gets injured later on in the season.

With Morgan getting injured, the two John's made the right choice by selecting Moses at captain and without trying to sound harsh on Morgan, is became no surprise that we kept a clean sheet without him as captain. For a start, there was communication at the back and every defensive play, either Moses or Beevers were right at the heart of it and I feel a lot more confident about our defence if they continue playing like this.

Alan Marriott - 8- Had little to do throughout but was excellent when called upon, made some unbelieveable saves.

Jeff Hughes - 7 - Still pulled out of way too many tackles for my liking but other than that, he looked pretty solid and took his goal reasonable well. Can't really complain too much

Adie Moses - 7 - You could argue on this performance that he should be captain een when Morgan isn't injured. Did everything right and was one of the main reasons we got a clean sheet.

Lee Beevers - 8 - Another good performance from the youngster and he seemed even better as a centre-back than his natural right back.

Nicky Eaden - 7 - Seemed to take on board recent critisism and played quite well. Still a bit laidback with his close-range passing but other than that, his long balls were good and that cross was fantastic for Hughes' goal.

Ryan Amoo - 7 - Good return to the first team and if he could get his crosses off the ground, he'd be fine.

Lee Frecklington - 7 - Wasted a few good chances but his crossing was fine and overall effort was good.

Scott Kerr - 5 - Still very quiet and looks very tired, only saved from a lower mark by his overall passing accuracy.

Paul Mayo - 7 - Much improved on the last few weeks and passing was good. Unlucky with his first touch once or twice but did well overall.

Mark Stallard - 8 - Distribution was good, won some headers and set up the goal. Unlucky with a few finishes but overall, his strongest performance since Wycombe..

"I didnt think anyone had a bad game tonight. Mazza had a couple of superb saves late on to keep us a clean sheet. Thought Eaden was solid at full back. How on earth did Hughes miss that chance in the second half??? Beevers was superb at the back and Forrester was outstanding. Was a good all round performance to bounce back from 2 defeats.
