City were the last team drawn out of the hat and face a trip to League 1 promotion chasers, Port Vale in the first round. It is the 6th year in a row that City have drawn league opposition and the 4th straight 1st round game against League 1 opposition but it its a very winnable game at Vale Park.

City were the very last team to be drawn out (despite Will Greenwood's arm flapping all over the place) and it meant that the Imps will travel to Vale Park for the first time since the LDV Vans Northern Trophy Regional final in 2000/1.

The draw threw up a few interesting ties, Boston face yet another tip to the south cost as they take on Bournemouth. There's a local derby in Wales as Newport County are hosts to Swindon Town, Darlington face a mammoth trip south to Lewes whereas Gainsborough have a winnable game against Barnet.

With Sky Sports usually showing a League 1 vs League 2 game at this stage of the competition, 10th in League 1 vs top of League 2 (at the current time) is arguably the most tempting League vs League fixture.
