Peter Jackson, a man of the people

Peter Jackson gave one fan an unexpected present in the game at Farsley. Jackson allowed a fan to not only take part in the training at Throstle's Nest, but also to have a kick around with Jackson himself and Iffy Onuora. All that before getting to lead out the team as mascot, not bad for £5.

Peter Jackson is known for trying to get a good relationship with the fans and upon entering the ground, Joshua Soons couldn't have hoped for what Jackson was about to offer him. Joshua, son of Julian Soons (one of this site's message board regulars), was invited by Jackson to join him and Iffy Onuora for a kick around for 20 minutes before the pre-match warm up began.

Joshua then found himself practicing with the first XI and the substitutes before then being asked by Peter if he would like to be the club's mascot for the day. Joshua also got to meet his favourite player, Scott Kerr. He was even more pleased when Kerr scored the fourth goal in City's 5-0 route of Farsley.

It's a far cry from the days when Keith Oakes used to just grunt at the fans.

What a great thing to do.. At the open day last weekend Peter signed my sons shirt then took him into the dugout for a photo, he made my sons year.. Nothing ever seems too much trouble for him & he is very approachable... The man is a legend, hes raised the profile of Lincoln City & i'll always be a fan of his, even when he leaves Sincil Bank.

We arrived and he came over to my son and said hello and just carried him over onto the pitch and had a kick about with him.

Wow that is very impressive, shows his goodside, what about if we was losing wht would he say in the changing room.. Still that is a very nice thing to do, especially having to travel all that way.

What a very nice thing to do. I met him briefly some years ago and it struck me then that he was just a genuine, nice person with none of the airs and graces that some have.

This is my first post on here, by the way, but I've been an Imps fan for over half a century now and was one of the people who wrote out a cheque a few years ago when it seemed the club might actually go out of existence.

It's far too early to predict anything but I think that Jacko is one of the best Managers at League One/Two level and I believe we have a good chance of having a much better season (and hopefully a much better start).

I hope we can get over the red tape probs with the Romanian because I think he'll be out to prove something rather than just be picking up the money as some seem to do.

At the very least he might make a decent last 15 mins sub.

The bloke is a legend! I went to 25% of the games at most under JS as I had no enthusiasm left at all. Jacko came in and I couldn't help but get swept along with the positivity. I'm now at the games home or away whenever possible and its all down to him, I'm sure plenty of others have been similarly influenced.

This story just goes to show what a top bloke he is, maximum respect Jacko, I hope you know we're all right behind everything you do when it comes to LCFC.

I met him the other week in a non football situation. I introduced myself and he gave me a huge bonecracking handshake, put his arms around me and shouted "So do you come to Sincil Bank every week?" in my ear.When I told him I was a season ticket holder he gave me another hug!
A big man literally and a huge presence.I can see exactly why he gets players to run through walls for him.
