Lincoln City were second best for long periods of the game against Bournemouth. After an even first 25 minutes, City took the lead through Lenell John-Lewis but it was all Bournemouth after that, the hosts having two goals disallowed either side of half time. However, City held out for the win and are now within just three points of the Playoff places. City kicked off the game but near enough instantly gave the ball away and it was Goulding's low effort that provided the game's first chance, the shot going just wide. The Cherries continued to press but the Imps came close to scoring when N'Guessan shot wide following a set up from Green and Beevers. It wasn't an action packed opening and the thirteenth saw Beevers provide LJL with a chance, but the ball bounced off his knee and out of play.

The same combination sparked up again just after the half-way point of the first half (told you it was quiet) when Beevers confidently beat the Bournemouth right-back and pass to LJL, the striker again scuffed his effort but thankfully watched it squirm into the net and it was 1-0 to the Imps.

Frecklington came close to doubling the lead soon afterwards when he volleyed goalwards from 25 yards, Jalal easily saving his effort before Danny Hollands shot over for the hosts. Oakes had an effort go wide and Bournemouth won a corner from the resulting free kick. Anderton played it in and after being blocked twice, it was blasted into the net, thankfully the referee blew for a free kick due to an apparent foul. Neither side managed another chance in a less than enthralling first half.

Cummings, the only surviving player from either side from the 2003 Playoff Final, hit a poor free kick straight at Burch at the beginning of the second half. The goalkeeper had to be alert seconds later and he brilliantly saved a Goulding effort. Hollands received a yellow card for a foul on Frecklington, but it wasn't long before Oakes joined in the booking fun, penalised for blocking Bartley.

Bournemouth thought they had equalised as Burch carried the ball over the line, but the goalkeeper was bundled over the line and a free kick was awarded. Bradbury underhit a effort at Burch. A rare second-half attack saw a free kick about 25 yards out. Oakes stepped up but could only watch as his kick went just over the line. Igoe replaced Anderton for the hosts.

Moseley and Ward replaced Bartley and Bradbury for the hosts before Wright and Clarke came on for Frecklington and Patulea for City. Neither side managed any major chances after this and City had secured their third win on the trot.
