The Candidates : The Ex-Imps

There are five ex-Imps already linked with the vacant manager's job, with one name in particular dividing opinion more than others. Two are Lincoln City legends, one is a two-time ex-manager and the other two have management experience in non-League, something the club are apparantly keen on.
Well let's start with the name that has been linked with City on many occasions, John Ward. Ward's name has been banded about in the last two times when City were looking for a manager, and despite being 3/1 favourite with some bookmakers to become City manager, a lot of the older generation aren't keen on his appointment.
Ward has already stated that he has no real desire to become City manager due to the fact he is a legend on the pitch and doesn't want the potential of that being damaged by potentially not delivering on the pitch. Due to this fact, 3/1 odds are certainly a little off the mark and he probably counts as a distinct rank outsider for the role.
One very popular appointment though could be Gareth Ainsworth. His name was 
first banded about at the weekend as potential replacements and it was met with a reaction of excitement. Currently at QPR, Ainsworth has dabbled in management on a caretaker basis on a few occasions there, with reasonable on the field success each time.
Rated as another one of City's legends, Ainsworth has stated on many occasions that he would love to come back to Sincil Bank one day and if City could convince QPR to let him come to Sincil Bank then we could easily have found our new candidate, but there in is the problem. He is well thought of at QPR and it could be an issue trying to get him.
However, what this club has needed for a while is a young manager with fresh ideas, and Ainsworth could easily be the man for the job.
Then we get onto Keith Alexander, a name who will always have a fond place in City's hearts, BUT the one thing we must remember was that his last spell at the club as ended when he decided to leave, making him the only manager this century not to be either sacked or made redudant.
Alexander's appointment would be generally popular, but isn't likely to happen due to the fact he chose to leave us, and not the other way around.
The one major factor in the favour of all those hoping for Keith is that the board have already said they want a manager with non-League experience. That brings me on to a 2+2=5 moment. Stuart Bimson left City in 2002, going to Cambridge United and eventually onto be manager of Bedford Town. He returned to Cambridge as a coach but was let go last season.
Bimson was at Saturday's game, dressed smartly and holding a clip-board, it could simply be that he was scouting for someone, but there is the distinctive chance that Bimmo could be a dark-horse.
Speaking of horses, Simon Weaver (nickname at Sincil Bank was The Horse for those that didn't get the reference) has recently stepped into management at Harrogate Town. Having scored the goal that won promotion for Ilkeston last summer, he took over at Harrogate a few months ago and is the youngest out of the five I have mentioned here.
A popular player at Sincil Bank, Weaver would again bring fresh ideas to the table and has played in the non-League for the past four seasons, the only question would be if City would take that gamble.

there tends to be a reason why people end up in non-league, they arnt very good
the names being banded about are good for the assistant position....Bimmo, Ainsworth etc but we need a WOW appointment.
I am coming round to Ronnie Moore.....I am sure Butcher doesn't want his ex Oldham boss in charge!!! First player on the transfer list I would guess.
Personally would want John Ward, Bimmo as a number two would be impressive appointment and a popular one.
Really exciting times, I hope we are not deflated with the appointment of Keith - legend but not the WOW factor we need.

Would Bimmo come as part of a pair with Brabin? If so could be a good choice.
We all know Bimmo had an intersting sense of humour whilst at the club.
I think Dean may have just hit the jackpot.....my money is on that I think.
no football league managment experiance between them and they failed to lift on of the best funded and suported teams out of the blue square when up against the likes of northwich and forest green

but keith alexander or steve thompson for me, somebody who knows the club and has it at heart already
then again, a return for keith doesn't look like happening according to this below
