Dawn of the Dead

The Imps performed a Dawn of the Dead act last week as they resurrected their promotion hopes after everyone thought they were dead but now, the one man team from Wales are out to prove a point

  • INTRODUCTION
  • The Imps promotion hopes seemed dead leading into half time last week against Rochdale. The score 0-0 and it looked destined for a very dull 0-0 but 3 goals in 9 minutes secured a comfortable victory for the Imps. Saturday now sees us face Swansea who embarrasingly lost to Welsh Premiership Rhyl 2-0 in mid week.
  • THE IMPS
  • A confident Imps signed are boosted by the returns of Richard Butcher and Paul Morgan with the latter almost certain to start with the former on the bench. Other than that, it's the same old story with the Imps.
  • FALL FROM GRACE
  • Cast your minds back to the beginning of October and you'll find Swansea at the top of the table with a maximum 15 points from 5 games at home and the next team to visit were the Imps. Many thought it was going to be a foregone conclusion and only 65 Imps fans saw the Imps 2-0 up after 15 minutes although a quick reply and a Ben Futcher own goal saw the Imps come away from a tough game with a point rather than all 3. Since then, Swansea have falted in the league and are now down in 10th place and to be honest, if they hadn't got off to such a good start, they could be threatened with relegation now as they are only on 55 points which sounds respectable but you think at the end of October, they have half of those points already.
  • DANGER MAN
  • Lee Trundle is Swansea's leading scorer and the top scorer in divison 3 (if you include all the cup games) and it comes as no suprise that the Swans haven't won this season without the inspiration player.
  • RECENT HISTORY
  • Since being relegated to Division 3 a few years ago, the Swans have won once in 5 attempts against the Imps and haven't scored in their 2 visits to Sincil Bank losing 3-0 and 1-0. Last season's last minute defeat was hard on Swansea as they had worked hard and earnt a draw and they got their revenge a few weeks later, defeating the Imps 2-0 which many say, turned their season around.
  • LAST 5 RESULTS
  • Swans 2 Imps 2
  • Swans 2 Imps 0
  • Imps 1 Swans 0
  • Swans 0 Imps 0
  • Imps 3 Swans 0
