City can't expect a favour from Weaver

Kidderminster's ex-Imps Simon Weaver has told City not to expect any favours on Saturday. Weaver moved from the Imps to Macclesfield just over a month ago and meets his former team-mates at Aggborough with both sides needing the 3 points for very different reasons.

Weaver moved áfter finding first team oppurtunities restricted after the arrivals of Jamie McCombe and Gareth McAuley and up until their arrival, he was a virtual ever present under Keith Alexander. After a 2 month loan spell at surprise promotion contenders, Macclesfield Town, Weaver rejected a contract from them to join Stuart Watkiss' relegation battle. Weaver told the Lincolnshire Echo,

"I've told everyone what to expect from Lincoln and there's no doubt it will be a physical clash, some people like to pigeon-hole Lincoln and say they are direct, but I have warned the lads they can't be underestimated because they do play football in the final third.

"It's going to be very odd to be lining up against so many familiar faces. I still keep in touch with a lot of the players and no doubt there will be plenty of banter flying around. We have to stand up and be counted as men, which hasn't been happening in recent games. Lincoln love a fight and if we don't match them we'll hand them the game. We have to scrap for every tackle if we are going to get out of trouble."

Weaver was a very popular figure with the fans at Sincil Bank thanks to his tank like defensive skills but is now involved in a relegation battle but is confident that Kiddy can stay up after 2 wins in his first 5 games. However, things haven't been pretty in the other games, heavy homes defeats to Swansea (5-1) and Southend (3-1) have dented Kiddy's survival bid. It looked as though there were going to survive when Watkiss guided them off bottom spot after being 5 points adrift a few games ago and with a bunch of teams only a mere handful away, they were hopeful of quickly asserting themselves in a midtable position at least.

Kick off at Aggborough is 3:00pm.
