Keith Alexander has revealed that striker Martin Carruthurs is free to leave the club, the striker hasn't featured at all in the first team since the away game at Wycombe. Carruthurs joined the club in September but failed to score in his time.
Carruthurs was part of a swap deal that saw Dean West leave after just 4 games back with Lincoln and go to Boston United, however, Carruthurs didn't have the effect Keith had hoped as he failed to score at all. Carruthurs was subsquently loaned out to Cambridge after an injury, again he failed to score and now Ollie Ryan is ahead of him in the queue for a first team place. Carruthurs was poised to join Forest Green last week but it fell through.
"Martin wants to be playing football and I can understand that," Keith told the Echo. "However, while I have no qualms with him trying to fix up a move, I'm certainly not the one instigating it or making phone calls to say he's available for transfer. I would be happy for him to stay. He's a very experienced player and we are short of bodies at the moment - especially with Fletch and Yeo injured. But if he wants to go, then I won't stand in his way."
