Lincoln City have missed out on strikers Drewe Broughton and Jon Parkin for injury and money related concerns. Keith was very keen to sign both strikers to add to City's goal shy attack, however, he recieved to set-backs on Wednesday afternoon and it's back to the drawing board.

Drewe Broughton gave a very honest reason as to why he didn't want to join Lincoln just yet. He is recovering from injury and he didn't feel right coming to Lincoln on loan and being injured for the majority of that time, however, he didn't rule out a move in the January transfer window when he injury has cleared up.

Jon Parkin was apparantly very keen to come to Sincil Bank and Macclesfield were prepared to let him go, however, the stumbling block was Parkin's wages which were a total of £1500 a week, again showing that City can't attract good players because of the boards unwilling attitude to give Keith more wages to work with. Even though Parkin's contract is up in the summer, it looks as though Keith has missed the boat again.

This has been a major critisism of the board recently. City have tried bringing in several proven goalscorers, including Gregg Blundell and Bruce Dyer, however, the board's cautious approach to finances means that Keith has been forced into a budget of giving players small sums of what most players earn these days and it is believed that only Marriott and Morgan are earning anything near a decent wage at the club. The club's Goal 2010 project is all well and good when they say they want to be run like a championship club, but if they aren't prepared to invest in the players that will get us to that level, then there seems to be very little point to even starting the project.

However, Keith has revealed he has several other offers in the pipeline and hopes to have at least one new player in on loan Thursday's deadline.
