McAuley set to join Forest

Imps defender, Gareth McAuley is apparantly all set to sign for League One side, Nottingham Forest in the transfer window. The move comes as Gary Megson is looking to improve his defence that has been a shambles on the road and he views Gareth McAuley as being the answer to his defensive problems.

Due to last night's lack of a match for Lincoln, I made the trip to watch Forest vs Port Vale and I met up with the same source that confirmed that David Johnson had spoken to the Imps back in May and he reliably informed me that by the end of January, Gareth McAuley would be wearing a Forest shirt.

McAuley joined the Imps last season from the Northern Irish Leagues and has since, become a reliable defender and scored the goals to take us to the playoff final as he scored both in the 2-1 playoff semi final victory over Macclesfield. During his time with the Imps, McAuley won his first international cap for Northern Ireland when he came on as a substitute against Germany.

Apparantly though, McAuley's transfer will not only come with a fee, but apparantly also with a player in exchange. We'll bring you more on this as we get it.
