Midfielder Dean Keates, who had his contract mutally ended yesterday, has resigned for his former club, Walsall. The popular midfielder started his career at the Bescot Stadium and beat the transfer deadline to resign for the West Midlands club until the end of the 2005/6 season.

City and Keates came to an agreement to terminate the midfielder's contract yesterday after no-one had come in for the player, who had put himself on the transfer list just a few weeks ago. Within hours of being released, it was announced that Keates had signed for Walsall. After making 24 appearances for City, his last in the 4-1 win against Barnet, Keates was apparantly being scouted by the League One side, however, they failed to produce a bid and for personal reasons, Keates was let go.

Keates joins the Saddlers just 4 years after leaving them at the end of the 2001/2 season after an initial spell lasting well over 200 games for the club. He went on to play for Hull, Kidderminster and then the Imps.
