Another Imp gets an international call up

Loaned out striker, Derek Asamoah has recieved a call up to the Ghana national squad to face France on Tuesday. It will be the 5'6 strikers' first cap for his country and he will be joined by fellow League 2 player and former Imp, Junior Agogo and both could be heading for the World Cup next month.

Asamoah fell heavily out of favour at Sincil Bank after Keith Alexander finally caught up with the majority of the rest of the fans and realised that if we were going to go up, he needed to be out of the squad and it seems no coincedence that we've been near free-scoring since he left and have shot up from a relegation battle to on the brink of the playoffs again. It seems almost certain that Asamoah will depart Sincil Bank for good in the summer. Asamoah is brought into the squad instead of injured Isaac Boakye.

If he does well in his game, Asamoah could do himself a massive favour on the world stage and if things go extremely well, he could potentially be snapped up by a biggish club in one country. If he does play in the World Cup, his group opponents are Italy, America and the Czech Republic and it comes as no surprise that Ghana have been predicted to finish bottom of that group.
