Imps' midfielder Scott Kerr has revealed that he is looking forward to being more involved in games under a new style. Like most of the midfielders before him under Keith Alexander, Kerr regulary saw the ball played well above his head as the ball was hoofed but is he now has renewed optimism

Kerr joined the Imps last summer from Scarborough United along with defender Colin Cryan and he was one of the few consistant players last season and he filled his annual quota of hitting the first defender from set pieces with ease but when the ball was in open play, Kerr was hardly involved in the game. With the defence lumping the ball up to the attack, there seemed to be no point in the Imps' having a midfield as Kerr and he fellow midfielders partly touched the ball in most games. However, Keith Alexander has gone and now the two John's, Deehan and Schofield have hinted that they plan to implement a more on the ground style and Kerr is delighted with this news.

He revealed to the Echo : "I'm the sort of player who likes to get on the ball and spray passes around. As a player, you want to shift the ball around and make it good to watch. I certainly believe we have the talent at Sincil Bank to carry it off, especially when you look at players like Lee Frecklington, Colin Cryan and Jeff Hughes, who are good on the ball. Under the old system, the midfield never really had a chance to put a foot on the ball. But, hopefully, that will change next season."

It would be a return to the tactics used during his time at Scarborough in which he was named Man of the Match in an FA Cup game against Chelsea. Let's just hope that Kerr can manage to avoid booting the ball straight at defenders and score a few mmore goals after finding the net 3 times last season.
