Nutbrook 42 lost to West Hallam 183-8 by 141 runs

This comprehensive win places West Hallam firmly at the top of this Division, though Shipley Hall have a remote chance of overtaking them, with only one game to go. Chris Rudd contributed 58 and Alan McLellan 39. A good stint from Nutbrook’s Lewis Kirk yielded 3-20, but the destructive bowling came from Steve Attenborough (5-18) and Campbell Ogilvie( 3-1).

Staveley Welfare 186 lost to Shipley Hall 219-9 by 33 runs

Shipley’s score came in 49 overs, with Mark Starr making 45 and Zakir Hussain 97. There was some good bowling from Staveley’s John Bullimore (5-37) and Tim Hoare (3-30), but when Staveley batted they failed to provide the major innings and were undone by Harvinder Singh Sodhi (5-55) and Simon Lacey (3-48).

Spondon 271-4 drew with Marehay 161-8

After leading the Division for so long Marehay’s title hopes disappeared in this drawn game, but it was an important day for two players, Peter Davies of Spondon and Arif Mehmood of Marehay, both of whom completed their 1,000 runs for the season. Davies made 133, including 13 fours and 7 sixes, and Mehmood 32. Spondon were denied the win by Gareth Buckley who made 57 not out.

Belper Meadows 97-4 beat Lullington Park 96 by 6 wickets

Batting first Lullington were dismissed cheaply, with top score coming from Daniel Green (32). The damage was done by Ben Tait (3-12) and James Cox (4-36). Dave King stayed long enough to see Belper comfortably home, ending on 41 not out.

Morton 210-4 drew with Elvaston 253-4

After their batting failure at Lords last Sunday this was a welcome return to form by Elvaston. Skipper Richard Johnson led the way with 91 not out and there was another promising performance from young Charlie Ault who made 72. There was a spirited reply from Morton with Geoff Deane contributing 101 not out and John Aspinall 56.

Abbey Glass Division 2

Duffield 86-7 drew with Ticknall 161-9

Both these sides confirmed their right to promotion in this drawn game, and Ticknall have emerged as a certainty for the division title. Runs were hard to get, with Lee Harvey’s 66 for Ticknall standing out. Best bowling came from Ed Sims (3-38) for Duffield and Graham Chamberlain (4-23) for Ticknall.

Aston on Trent 170-8 beat Rolleston 148 by 22 runs

This was a minor setback for Rolleston in their aim to be the third promoted side from this Division. Syed Faisal was again in good form for Aston, scoring 62, with help from Rafaqat Ali (39). For Rolleston Alan Mellor took 4-38, and when they batted Sean Green (41) did his best to hold the innings together, but they were not helped by four run-outs.

Denby 2nds 163-2 beat Brailsford 162-9 by 8 wickets

It was a good batting effort by Brailsford, with James Dakin making 57 and Kevin Bould 31. Lee Atkin took 3-38 for Denby and went on to score 72 not out in a stand with Phil Glenn who made 66 not out.

Ockbrook 2nds 187-2 beat Mickleover 184 by 8 wickets.

Alan Worth made 39 and Mark Heath 49 for Mickleover, with Ockbrook’s Oliver Gough taking 3-27. Ockbrook made short work of their target, hitting off the runs in 24 overs, with lively knocks from Paul Darlington (95) and Lindsey Morgan (81 not out).

Sandiacre Town 2nds 244-6 drew with Alfreton 133-5

Sandiacre’s total included 70 from Nick Briars, 62 from Ben Ruhrmund and 64 from Steve Brown. Matt Linacre performed well for Alfreton, taking 3-49 and then holding the innings together with 76 not out

Derbyshire Building Society Division 3A

Elvaston 2nds were disappointed that they couldn’t finish Tibshelf off, but they gained 19 points which gave them a handy lead at the top. They had Tibshelf at 135-8 after setting them a score of 214. There were good knocks for Elvaston by Ian Murray (74) and Trevor Hessey (50).

Alvaston & Boulton 2nds beat Ambergate by 2 wickets in a low scoring game where the bowlers were on top. Ambergate were dismissed for 89, with Tim Pope taking 4-19 and Steve Ottewell 3-24, and for Ambergate Imran Ullah took 3-35. Swarkestone didn’t have a game, but play on Sunday knowing that they need 25 points to overtake Ambergate to gain promotion.
