Denby 152-9 lost to Ockbrook 156-3 by 7 wickets

The pitch at Denby had been affected by overnight rain seeping under the covers, and this had an effect on the batting of both sides. Denby won the toss and Stuart Poplar elected to bat first. As things turned out this may have been the wrong decision. Their batsmen struggled against some tight Ockbrook bowling, with Alan Green taking 3-30 and Brian Gladwin and Chris Windmill taking two wickets apiece. Ben Perry-Taylor was Denby's top scorer with 26. In their reply Ockbrook lost an early wicket before Jamie Guthrie (36) and Johnny Owen (57) battled their way against all of Denby's bowlers. They had their share of good fortune because there was still some life in the pitch, and when they were out skipper Dave Hallack settled things and saw Ockbrook home with 40 not out in the 53rd over.

Dunstall 221 beat Clifton 174 by 47 runs

Dunstall's batsmen produced another big score, but they had to work hard for their runs and were bowled out with one over to go. They were indebted to Phil Simmons who made 48 and especially to Carl Eyden who was still there at the end on 81 not out. For Clifton Ant Botha took 4-82, Simon Moore 3-31 and Lee Ali 3-65. In the Clifton reply Botha did his best to save the draw with a determined innings of 55 not out, but it wasn't quite enough. Martin Clewley (4-30) and Alan Gough (3-34) did most of the damage.

Ilkeston Rutland 199-8 drew with Chesterfield 116-6

A wet ground meant a late start and the scheduled overs reduced to 45 each side. Rutland lost some early wickets and it was left to Stewart Edge (52 not out) and Nick Dawson (48) to provide a challenging score with a sixth wicket partnership of 102. Tim Kirk cashed in on Rutland's attempt to get an extra batting point when their score had reached 199. He took three wickets in four balls, ending with figures of 5-67, and they still didn't get that extra run. Chesterfield were well short of their target at the close, but things could have been worse because they were in deep trouble at 60-6 before Dean Hopkinson (34 not out) and Fran O'Neil (33 not out) dug in and saved the draw.

Sandiacre Town 201-7 drew with Alvaston & Boulton 135-9

This game was reduced to 51 overs a side. Sandiacre's total was very much a team affair, with top scores coming from Naeem Akhtar (36) and Graham West (45 not out). For A & B Anthony Woolley took 3-45 and Carl Beetge 3-69, and their batting benefited from the return of Keith Gaskin who made 62. However, they were left hanging on at the end, with their last pair at the wicket. Irfan ul Haq took 3-18 for Sandiacre.

Sawley & LE Park 128 lost to Quarndon 235-7 by 97 runs

Quarndon batted first and compiled a formidable total in the reduced 51 overs. Main contributions came from Billy Bagshawe (34), Nathan Dumelow (53), Gary Myers (56 not out) and Duncan Player (44). . Bilal Shafayet was the pick of the Sawley bowlers, taking 3-37. Their batting let them down this week, apart from Kenny Wilson who showed resistance in making 43. They were all out with four overs to go, Kevin Newbold taking 3-23.

Wirksworth 218 lost to Langley Mill 251-9 dec by 33 runs

The Millers batted first and decided to declare after 50 overs when rain came. By taking this action they confined Wirksworth to 50 overs in their reply. There were good knocks from Adrian Marsh (66), Paul Bailey (50) and Rayim Karim (47), and for Wirksworth Mark Woodward took 3-44 and Adnan Naeem 4-82. There was some determined batting by Lee Mousley who was out for 62, brilliantly caught on the edge of the boundary and from Naeem (39) and Tariq Khan (36).. Simon Lacey produced a good spell, taking 6-53, but it was left to Karim to deliver the final blow when he had Gareth Harry caught behind off the very last ball of the 50th over.
