Wirksworth 132 lost to Sandiacre Town 135-2 by 8 wickets

Sandiacre are clinging on doggedly to the top spot in this League, mindful no doubt of the growing challenge from Dunstall and Ockbrook. They dismissed Wirksworth in 41 overs, with the only serious resistance coming from Neil Smedley (35) and Adnan Naeem (33 not out). Paul Standring was the most successful of the Sandiacre bowlers taking 4-35, then their batsmen moved comfortably to their target in 36.1 overs, John Trueman making 38 and Chris Attwood 59 not out.

Ockbrook 106-4 beat Chesterfield 104 by 8 wickets

Chesterfield were tumbled out in quick time for a modest score thanks to the combined efforts of Ian Darlington 3-19, Alan Green 3-26 and Trevor Smith 3-27. Ockbrook knocked off the runs but lost four wickets in the process. Jamie Guthrie made 32 and showed that he is measuring up to the demands of the Premier League.

Denby 122 lost to Dunstall 123-3 by 7 wickets

Early rain delayed the start and reduced the match to 76 overs instead of 110. Denby batted first and found it heavy going in the damp conditions. Steven Bullock was their top scorer with a modest 26, and for Dunstall the bowling honours were shared by Adrian Ball 3-44, Steve Scrimshaw 3-40, and Carl Eyden 3-18. It was a steady start for Dunstall and it took them 34 overs to reach their target, with Jamie Benstead making 35 and West Indian star Phil Simmons hurrying things along in the later stages with a lively 44 not out.

Clifton 143 lost to Quarndon 145-7 by 3 wickets.

This was a close game with a good result for Quarndon. They bowled Clifton out in 50 overs, which gave then 60 overs to win. Phil Davies top scored for Clifton and for Quarndon Nathan Dumelow took 4-36, and Duncan Player 4-40. Quarndon had to graft for their runs and it took them 48.4 overs to reach their target, with top score from Billy Bagshaw with 40, For Clifton Ant Botha took 3-26.

Langley Mill 158 lost to Ilkeston Rutland 249-7 by 91 runs.

Rutland were put in to bat and mastered the conditions well to produce a formidable total. Skipper, Martin Brandrick (42), took on the anchor role after David Smit and Matt Cassar had put on 50 for the first wicket. Martin Green (43) and Nick Dawson (47) hurried the score along and the aggressive mood was typified by George Moulds who hit two sixes off the last two balls of the innings. The Millers started off in a hurry, but soon got into difficulties against an inspired spell from Ian Banks who took 6 of the first 7 wickets, by which time the score had reached 86-7. A late flurry from veterans Andrew Ball (39) and Ken Smith (20), who put on 51 for the ninth wicket off 41 overs, gave some respectability to the score and provided a lesson to the earlier batsmen. Banks took some stick from this pair but ended up with 6-72

Alvaston & Boulton 141-7 v Sawley & LE Park 294-8 No Result

This was bad luck on Sawley who were well on top when rain intervened late in the day. They posted a huge score thanks to a brilliant 92 from Bilal Shafayat, with good support from Ken Wilson (54) and Dan Birch (66). The game ended with nearly 20 overs to go and with A&B well behind with only three wickets left. Mohammed Ayub was their top scorer with 36, and for Sawley Ahmed Gondal took 3-56.
