Belper Meadows 36-2 beat Selston Town 35 by 8 wickets

Selston Town were skittled out in 13.2 overs. The chief architect in their humiliation was Ben Tait who took eight wickets for nine runs, and this included eight maidens.. Belper knocked off the runs before an early tea, losing two wickets in the process.

Morton 195-9 lost to Shipley Hall 196-1 by 9 wickets

According to Morton’s skipper, John Aspinall, there was something in the pitch for the bowlers, but that isn’t the impression given by the scores Certainly the batsmen on both sides prospered. There was another fine innings for Morton from Geoff Deane (72) and good support from Aspinall (41), but Shipley spinner Gary Hickinbotham (6-40) made full use of the conditions. Shipley’s top three batsmen then dispelled any worries about the pitch as they hit off the runs in 28 overs. Stef Gamble made 42 before Mark Starr (83 not out) and Harvinder Singh Sodhi (64 not out) saw them home.

Nutbrook 112-5 drew with Elvaston 155

Elvaston batted first and had to graft for their runs, with main contributions coming from Lee Archer (58) and Matt White (44). This was against some very tight bowling from Alex Mace (4-33) and Daniel Brooks (3-36). Nutbrook’s innings got bogged down, with Richard Cutts (30) the only player to make a real impression. Stll, they hung on for the draw.

Spondon 192-9 drew with West Hallam 193-8

A desperately close finish saw Spondon two runs short of victory, whilst West Hallam needed to take the last wicket. No doubt a draw was a fair result. Batting first West Hallam set off in confident mood with good contributions from Campbell Ogilvie (44), Lee Barrow (41) and Chris Rudd (72 not out). Barrow featured in Spondon’s reply, taking 3-44, , with Joe Ashdown (45), Dean Vickers (59) and Dave Thomas (29) batting Spondon into a winning position.

Staveley Welfare 126-8 lost to Lullington Park 130-7 by 3 wickets

A close game which could have gone either way, but a welcome win for Lullington. George Chapman produced a good spell of 4-29 to restrict Staveley, as did Staveley’s Tim Hoare who took 3-33. In the Lullington innings there were crucial knocks from Andrew Goodwin (50) and John Shales (31), and these two tipped the balance in their favour.

Aston on Trent 194-7 lost to Sandiacre Town 195-7 by 3 wickets

Aston batted first and were well served by Arfan Fazal (54), Syed Faisal (31) and Shakeel Aslam (34). Mike Ruhrmund was the best of the Sandiacre bowlers, taking 4-20. Most of Sandiacre’s runs came from three players, Jake Needham (58), Dave Jordison (30) and Graham West (44).

Denby 159-7 beat Rolleston 158-8 by 3 wickets

A damp pitch but an exciting match! Rolleston coped well with the conditions with useful knocks from Sean Green (33), and Brian Stockley (35). For Denby David Thompson took 3-29. There were two knocks which gave Denby the win, Simon Mann’s 40 and Steven Payne’s 72, but in the end Rolleston came close, with Guy Dent taking 3-55.

Duffield 169-6 drew with Mickleover 137-7

Duffield were well served by Dave Gadsby (34) and Chris Elliott (79 not out), whils Mickleover’s Chris Bolton took 3-19. Chris Mottram was top scorer for Mickleover and for Duffield Phil Jordan took 3-41.

Ticknall 167-8 beat Alfreton 103 by 64 runs

This win keeps Ticknall top. They batted well thanks to Ryan Cowley (44) and Rob Dumelow (51) against accurate bowling, notably from Ian Bowler (4-31) and Tom Young (3-41). Ben Scheffer (38) batted well for Alfreton but they were undone by Graham Chamberlain who took 5-29.

Ockbrook 131-3 beat Allestree 129-9 by 7 wickets

Allestree’s innings was held together by Matt Sirrell (51) against a keen attack in which Tom Holmes (4-31) was outstanding. Then Nigel Sulley settled the issue with a class knock of 90.

Little Eaton 112-5 drew with Brailsford 174

Brailsford batted first and produced a good score on a damp pitch. Wayne Turnbull was their top scorer with an efficient 61, with support from Andy Baker (33). For Little Eaton Steve Dolby took 3-43 and when they batted Andrew Jeffery (30 not out) stuck it out to earn a draw

Derbyshire Building Society Division 3A

Highest score of the day in this Division came from Mahroof Hussain who made 91 not out for Derby Congs in their win against Tibshelf. Three players took 4 wickets in this game, Keith Else (4-31) for Tibshelf, Trevor Archibald (4-24) and Steve Baines (4-43) for Congs.

Elvaston 2nds performed well against Spondon 2nds but had to be satisfied with a winning draw. Charlie Ault made 82 for them and Rob Kettlewell took 5-31. Dave Jepson saved the day for Darley Abbey, scoring 53 not out in their total of 112-4, chasing South Wingfield’s 156-7.

Omar Yusean took 4-61 for A&B 2nds against Swarkestone who ended on 191-7, but A&B were well short on 151-9 in reply, grateful yet again to Gary Smith who scored 67. Bruce Dilkes took 4-40 for Swarkestone.
