THE JACKSON CUP QUARTER FINAL

West Hallam 127-7 (Wes Essex 33) beat Ilkeston Rutland 116-7 (Martin Green 6, Peter Hort 4-13) by 11 runs

Spondon 110-6 (Peter Davies 41) lost to Sawley 178-9 (Dan Birch 61, Jonathan Polley 59, Richard Lawson 36 not out) by 68 runs.

Denby 124-6 (Steven Lee 35, Stuart Poplar 32, John Siddall 3-37) beat Quarndon 121-4 (Gary Myers 35) by 4 wickets.

Ockbrook 166-1 (John Owen 33, Trevor Smith 86 not out, Dave Hallack 32 not out) beat Shipley Hall 162-6 (Zakir Hussain 73, Harvinder Singh Sodhi 39, Ian Darlington 3-13) by 9 wickets. Ockbrook reached their target in 12.4 overs, ie with 20 balls to spare.

The Semi Finals will be:
West Hallam v Sawley & LE Park at Ockbrook on Friday 5th July
Denby v Ockbrook at Denby on Friday 12th July.

The Final will be played at the County Ground, Derby on Friday 26th July.

Current best performances in the Jackson Cup are:
Bowling: Peter Hort (West Hallam) 4-13
Batting: Trevor Smith (Ockbrook & Borrowash) 86 not out.

THE BUTTERLEY CUP

The first Semi-Final was played at Elvaston on Friday June 21

Rolls Royce 138-7 beat Sandiacre Town 2nds 135-4 by 3 runs

Rolls Royce got off to a good start, making full use of a good pitch. Sandiacre were hampered by an injury to their wicket-keeper Ian Hopkins who was unable to resume until the innings was over. For Royces there were significant contributions from Malc Mason (27), Imran Shah (36) and Phil Daft (27) and best bowling for Sandiacre came from Ron Patel (3-47) and Andy Marlow (2-30).

Ian Hopkins bravely opened the batting despite his injury and helped them to a good start, scoring 37. There was good support from Steve Brown (23) and Jake Needham (24) and Sandiacre were always in touch with the target, but fell tantalisingly three runs short. Mushtaq Khan took 2-30 for Rolls Royce, but the winning factor was the their fielding which remained firm under pressure.

The second Semi-Final between Aston on Trent and Ockbrook 2nds will be at Spondon on Friday June 28.

The Final of the Butterley Cup will be at Alvaston & Boulton on Friday 19th July
