Nutbrook 135 lost to Marehay 136-3 by 7 wickets

This win puts Marehay back on the top of Abbey Glass Division 1. As so often before it was dominated by the performance of Marehay’s overseas player, Arif Mehmood. He took 3-45 in Nutbrook’s innings, with support from John Grimadell (3-20). David Hack top scored for Nutbrook with 39, but the innings of the day came from Mehmood who made short work of the modest target by scoring 100, with his second fifty coming off 29 balls. The innings was all over in 23 overs.

Belper Meadows 161-9 lost to Shipley Hall 163-4 by 6 wickets

Shipley move to second place with this win. There were two good knocks in the Belper Innings , Gavin Fernyhough, the former Alvaston & Boulton player, made 55 and Gareth Goodall was 43 not out, whilst from Shipley there were two good spells from Harvinder Singh Sodhi (4-48) and Zakir Hussain (3-41). Sodhi has established himself as one of the best all-rounders in this Division as he showed in making 85 not out. Stef Gamble (30) gave him good support.

Morton 178-7 drew with West Hallam 260-5

With this winning draw West Hallam keep in contention with the leaders. In their innings James Chapman made 88 and continues to impress as one of the most promising players in the League. Lee Barrow (53) and Campbell Ogilvie (40) also impressed. For Morton Geoff Deane made 66 and Adrian Elks (72), but they were well short at the close Peter Hort took 3-30 for West Hallam.

Selston Town 142 lost to Lullington Park 147-4 by 6 wickets

Further congestion at the top was caused by Lullington’s win. Selston batted first and were well served by Chris Dunn who made 52, but it must be said that there was little support and 142 was not much of a challenge. George Chapman returned the remarkable figures of 3-5. All-rounder David Adams took 4-31 and was top scorer for Lullington with 50, with Danny Gough adding 41 to give them an easy win.

Staveley Welfare 246-5 beat Elvaston 147 by 99 runs

This was a bit of a set-back for Elvaston, but a very encouraging performance for Staveley. Their batsmen were in good form, with the Camm brothers leading the way. Peter Camm was 67 not out and Martin Camm was out for 50. Backing them up were John Douglas (49) and Paul May with 40. Matt White performed well for Shipley, taking 4-51, but their batting was disappointing apart from Rob Kettlewell (47) and Paul Birch (38). The damage was done by John Bullimore who took 6-19.

Abbey Glass Division 2

Aston on Trent 270-8 drew with Brailsford 202-7

Plenty of runs in this game, with the standard set by Syed Faisal for Aston as he thrashed the Brailsford bowling in making 138. There was a promising bowling stint from Ross Wharton, the brother of Lian the Derbyshire player, as he returned 5-72. Brailsford put up a decent response in exceeding 200, with James Dakin making 47 and Tom Windscheffel 31.

Sandiacre Town 2nds 179-6 lost to Rolleston 181-3 by 7 wickets

This win puts Rolleston in a strong position for promotion because three of the teams above them are ineligible, including Sandiacre 2nds, the team they beat. Sandiacre’s score included 38 from Duncan Bembridge and 35 from Graham West. For Rolleston Sean Green made 58, Paul Allen 49 and Dave Bowering 33.

Ockbrook 2nds 194-8 beat Ticknall 190-8 by 2 wickets

This was a very close game with Ockbrook having the advantage of batting second. John Coxon made 51 for Ticknall, with Ryan Cowley adding 35, and for Ockbrook Tom Holmes took 3-41 and Alan Green 3-40. Paul Darlington provided the backbone for the Ockbrook innings with 91, but Cowley almost pulled off the win, taking 5-33. Despite this loss Ticknall remain top.

Another big Denby score which was built around Steven Payne who was 97 not out. He was backed by Phil Glenn (67) and Simon Mann (49). Allestree couldn’t match this run rate but there was an excellent innings from Matt Sirrell who made 92. Lee Atkin was the best of the Denby bowlers, taking 4-32.

Duffield 215-7 lost to Alfreton 216-7 by 3 wickets

Alfreton will be pleased with their win, but it was a close run thing. Two of their players played a significant part, Tom Young, who took 3-37 and scored 32 and Andy Buckley whose splendid century (108) turned the balance in their favour. Duffield tested them all the way, with Edward Sims, the captain, scoring 57, supported by Philip Jones (31) and bowler Hugh Nichols who took 3-16.

Little Eaton 213-6 lost to Mickleover 215-5 by 5 wickets

This was Little Eaton’s ninth loss, but they can take heart from their batting display whixch represented a good team effort. There were good knocks from Steve Muskett (56), Steve Dolby (59 not out), Rob Paylor (43 not out) and Andrew Jeffery (41). Chris Bolton was the best of the Mickleover bowlers, taking 4-59. In their reply Mickleover made a poor start, falling to 30-4, but thescene changed with the arrival of Chris Mottram and Bev Hudson who both produced some fierce shots. Mottram was 92 not out and Hudson was out for 65.
