Hi-Field Leisure Under 13 section – Dales Division

Belper Meadows 105 for 4 beat Clifton 54 for 7 by 51 runs

On the most glorious morning of the summer, Belper Meadows elected to bat, and were soon in control, with Ali Harrop-Griffiths hitting 27 before retiring undefeated. Rob Borland joined Tom Maleham, who was the first wicket to fall when the score was 54, for a solid 18. Rob Borland pushed the score along with an unbeaten 27 before making way for Tom Mart. Joe Carnelly( 10),and Tom Mart steered the score to 100, before falling in quick succession to Chris Maleham, younger brother of Tom, and Tyler respectively. Bryn Carnelly steered the ball for a single of the last ball to take the score to 105 for 4 off 20 overs.

Clifton, were always struggling to take up the challenge, and when Newland-Pratt, was run out in the second over, by some smart fielding from Joe Carnelly, they were in trouble. Bryn Carnelly took his tally of wickets to 9 for the season dismissing Tyler at the end of the fourth over. Chris Guest bowled Emmett, and another super piece of fielding, this time by Jamie Sykes, resulted in Dales being run out for 3. Ali Harrop-Griffiths added to the Clifton misery by bowling Manley, and at the end of the 11th over Clifton were 29 for 6. Wedgewood was run out when Paul Taylor hit the stumps with a direct throw and despite some spirited resistance from Wilson (13 not out), Clifton were never in the run race, and achieved 54 for 7 from their allotted overs.

This was Belper’s penultimate game in the League, and victory preserved their 100% record, and ensured that they are in an unassailable position for the League title.
