Clifton 103-1 beat Wirksworth 102 by 9 wickets

The Wirksworth innings lasted into the 41st over, with Mark Woodward (43) the only one to make an impression against a keen attack in which Li Ali took 4-22 and Dave Lawrence 3-43. Clifton wasted no time and hit off the required runs in 25.5 overs, with Kamran Afzaal 42 not out.

Alvaston & Boulton 108-2 v Denby 232-3 No Result

Denby batted first and were again in fine batting form. Ian Parkin is in a purple patch and completed yet another century (113 not out), ably assisted by Stuart Poplar (34). A&B made a positive reply and had reached 108-2 after 33 overs when time ran out, with Haq Nawaz on 53 not out.

Chesterfield v Sandiacre 34-1 Match abandoned

It was probably a mistake to start this match because the ground was saturated by heavy rain. They called a halt when it was seen that two deliveries from slow bowler David Adams reared dangerously. It was a blow to Sandiacre who had hopes of extending their lead at the top.

Ockbrook 93-1 v Langley Mill 152. No Result

News from Chesterfield was received with considerable interest. This was Ockbrook’s chance to close in on Sandiacre, and it almost worked out that way. Langley Mill batted first and were troubled by Ockbrook’s bowlers from the start. Rahim Karim (46) threatened to break out but was out before he could do too much damage. The innings closed in the 51st over, with Alan Green taking 3-33 and young Tom Holmes 3-22. So Ockbrook had 59 overs to pass this modest total. After losing an early wicket Jamie Guthrie and Johnny Owen settled into a good rhythm. After 22 overs they appeared to be coasting to a win with Owen 45 not out and Guthrie 30 not out. Then a very heavy shower flooded the field and seeped under the covers so that no further play was possible

Quarndon 184-4 v Dunstall 291-6 No Result

Dunstall’s batsmen were in fine form as they posted a big score. Carl Eyden was at his best in making 108 not out, well supported by Jamie Benstead (47) and James Pyemont (41). Rain interrupted Quarndon’s reply but they were making good progress when time ran out after 32 overs. There were useful contributions from Steve Hollis (34), Billy Bagshaw (40), Gary Myers (48) and Nick Goodwin (40 not out).

Sawley & LE Park 55-3 v Ilkeston Rutland 190-4 No Result

The wet ground caused a delayed start and it was reduced to 50 overs each side. Rutland made good progress with Martin Green scoring 54 and Martin Brandrick 30. The game was brought to a premature end by rain in the 13th over with Sawley in a comfortable position.
