Needing 323 for victory, opening duo Jason Gallian and Paul Johnson made a confident start. Notts were 38 without loss at the close.

Dominic Cork took his 50th wicket in the championship this year in the morning session - when he trapped Gregory Smith on the crease.

Andrew Harris made the crucial early breakthrough for Notts when he claimed the prize wicket of Michael Di Venuto. Chris Bassano (14) was just starting to find his feet when he became Harris' second victim of the day, edging a delivery behind to wicketkeeper Chris Read.

The dismissal brought Mathew Dowman to the crease and he forged a good understanding with opener Andrew Gait. The duo played some impressive shots before their 77-run partnership was ended by Boje. The spinner flighted the ball and Gait (53) could only drill it straight back at him.

Dowman (40) and Cork (19) both fell to Paul Franks. Derbyshire were never able to gain any momentum during their innings and it was no real surprise that they crumbled at the end.
