Glamorgan clinched their first competitive win of the season, with a 110 run win on the final afternoon against Worcestershire. Glamorgan finished with 17 points from the match. Having been set 337 to win, none of the Worcestershire top order could provide a match winning innings, Worcestershire bowled all out for 226 in 61 overs. Michael Kasprowicz, after going wicketless in his debut against Derbyshire, finished with 5 for 77, and picked up the key wicket of Ben Smith, lbw for 61, after he had threatening either side of lunch.

Robert Croft had picked up a couple of big wickets in the morning, bowling Stephen Peters and Vikram Solanki. Peters had taken the score to 95 for 2, before Croft struck quickly, leaving Worcestershire four down at lunch.

It was the Thomas and Kasprowicz story in the afternoon though, the two opening bowlers returning to skittle out the lower middle order. Kasprowicz, with his first five-wicket haul for Glamorgan, was the pick, but Thomas finished with 3 for 54, and 8 wickets in the match.

This capped a good all-round performance by the team, and, with no National League game tomorrow, can spend a little more time enjoying this win than they otherwise could. Worcestershire have a strong looking side, so this win will certainly boost some players’ confidence, notably Michael Powell’s and Michael Kasprowicz’s.
