Strategic changes in the offing? Villa Preview

Wenger discusses his thoughts pre the Villa match on today's Arsenal Plus. Thankfully no mention of Glenda, or Alex this week.Wenger believed Arsenal had been in a great position to finish the match off against United, but the team made strategic errors after the 53rd minute.

 

 Defensive errors were made and Wenger will make strategic changes to make the defence more effective. He will not want to lose offensive ability, but the defence will need to have its confidence restored.

 

Wenger did not spell out the implications of these changes, but perhaps he is considering a sweeper or 4-5-1, or insisting they defend as a team perhaps.

 

Apart from injury to Sol and Senderos, and the suspended Toure, everyone is available. He will sleep on making a decision as to who will replace Sol. He might consider Edu for midfield, but gave no definite assurance he would. Wenger was confident the team had the mental strength to bounce back.

 

The last time Man U beat Arsenal they lost their next match to Portsmouth and the Gunners drew.
